"You're a Rocket?" I screeched, hyperventilating at that point and unable to do anything else but concentrate on Challenger. He seemed like he was in a similar position and was backed up against his Golem, face stark white and looking ready to lash out at anyone.

Nathan kept me wrapped up in his jacket and had one arm around me at all times. The other was still on his gun. That made me nervous. What was going on that he thought he needed it?

I peeked up out from under the hood and thought, rather naively, that I was safe because no one was looking in our direction. They were all looking at something else, away from us. That made me more confused. Nick Sayre had just been in the city, and its citizens were distracted by something else. What could do that?

I think I knew what it was, deep down. It was the moment I had been dreading since the media turned nasty, since the public turned away from us.

Trying to swallow past my suddenly dry mouth, I managed to croak, "S-So how do you know that?"

"Well, we had this big drawing yesterday about who would get to challenge you Gym trainers, right? And I got picked! And they assigned me to you! And I was going to go busting into your hotel today to introduce myself, but you beat me to it, didn't you!" Sonya chattered on, still grinning. It was starting to make me a little queasy. There went my shot at winning. Then again, if I got kicked out of the Gym race and left Sunyshore, wouldn't Nick conceivably follow me? And wouldn't I not have to deal with crazy crowds and curfews and angry Gym leaders

My guard, much to my irritation, left me to Crasher Wake and only sat idly by, smoking a cigarette. Every time the Gym leader was distracted, I turned to him and made faces (not that he minded). How dare he leave me to emotionally die a little more inside.

On the upside, Zarek seemed to be enjoying the attention. He bubbled happily and hardly even tried to pinch anyone. Or maybe it was just the fact that Wake was a larger human than what he was used to interacting with. I wasn't sure, but I sort of hoped his milder attitude stuck.

Hanna showed up, gasping for air, once again holding a newspaper. She did the next day, too. I was learning to hate her visits, no matter how horrible that made me. The first day, Vaikuntha and Keith dominated. The second free day, it was dedicated to Archie and Alicia. The media tore them to shreds.

Vaikuntha's heritage was apparently thrown into the mix, which I thought was a rather low blow. He was a Sinnoh trainer—who cared where he was born? He'd be a better Gym leader than anyone else here. Words like 'alien', 'illegal immigrant', and even things like 'mutt' were tossed about. It made me sick. Hanna and I tried to go cheer him up,

Hi guys. So. If you don't talk to me on a regular basis, or if you don't stalk my facebook page, or if you can't read my mind, then you may be unaware of the project that will be following RMWJ as my next pokemon fic.

Well, here you go. This is Naila Safar, aged 20-something, posing for her ~lover~.

The story will focus on a 10-year-old Naila. So yes, the first thing I do to kinda introduce a new project proper-like is to draw a mostly naked older version of the main character. I will not be contained.

I've been actually sitting on this for awhile but decided to finally finish it up (kinda, i hate shading ha) and post it because I miss my wifey.

So this made me jealous. Why do YOU get to think up all the cool new ideas for Pokemon characters when I've been stuck on the same dead horse for years? So I thought about it for a while, about how stories happen and how I can get one for myself. And after a few days steeped in envy and self-loathing, it worked! There was a germination, the first spontaneous inspiration I've had in years, all because I couldn't get over this damn picture.

Anyway, I'm making this about myself again, but I just wanted to let you know.

Wasn't "Pedestal" supposed to be your last Pokemon thing or whatever? I don't know if you're like Buckley and just riding it out for the attention after your interest is gone, but you're not making any money off of it, so I don't think that's it.

That's what my creative friends say! Apparently having a ton of ideas can be like a curse or something. I wouldn't know. All I ever hear from that part of my brain is a flatline.

This thing with aliens and an Archeops and terrorists and science. Still need a plot, but the concept alone will keep me happy for the next year or so. That's assuming that's what you were asking about. If not, now I just sound presumptuous, sorry.

Well, considering I'm apparently suckling off your creative energy like a baby pig, I'm glad you managed to keep the spark going. Buckley is that hack who wrote the Ctrl+Alt+Del webcomic. Sometimes I forget people don't really know him anymore. Despite his best efforts he faded into obscurity.

It's totally a curse. D: Although the flipside is also pretty terrible, I suppose.

An archeops? As a main character, or starter, or on the team, or? Newer pokemon aren't used as often in fic, so they're nice to see cropping up. Plus fossil pokemon are always great.

Whenever I get a spontaneous idea (or find a really inspiring one to steal), I carefully document it in my "ideas.txt" file. After several years, it barely has a hundred entries, and half of them are gimmick characters-of-the-day or D&D builds. :( It's lonely in here.

Well, it's a work in progress, but I'm thinking that a scientist temporarily fostering an Archen gets abducted by an Elgyem to go fight space terrorists. And that becomes to excuse for a Generic Pokemon Training Story. Not sure how I got there from this, though you did show me how much fun it could be to get your human taken hostage and led across an entire region by an over-controlling Pokemon.
